PETER NAYLOR
Peter’s passion for visual media started when he was young. His uncle, a professional photographer turned him on to the medium and Peter soon got to work capturing his fellow riders down at the BMX track. It was at this moment his fascination began for the whole process, from camera to darkroom. Realising that this could be a viable career he signed up for an A level in Photography, moved onto a foundation and then progressed to Lincoln University where he graduated, top of the class, with a First Class Honors Degree in Lens Media.
It was at Lincoln that Pete developed his interests further and added filmmaking to his visual belt. He was soon in demand across both mediums, directing music videos and being commissioned for photographic work.
In the years following university, Peter continued to forge a career in the industry he lives and breathes by setting up his own production company ‘Falltime’ and running youth workshops in Lincolnshire. In a project backed by artsNK he worked with and mentored disadvantaged teenagers making short films, introducing them to photography and helping them to record their own music. This rewarding experience led to him being employed as a media skills lecturer on a national skills initiative based at the College of West Anglia.
When it comes to production Peter has an in built confidence that means he is rarely gets flustered when on a shoot or when delivering a project. He just ‘gets it’ and is extremely adept at turning a good idea into a reality, handing over a product that gleams and that the client invariably loves. He embraces new technology and is constantly striving to further his skills and knowledge base. Pete thinks it’s brilliant that technology means he can share ideas and his work with people on the other side of the world, and he ‘sees’ the potential of this.
Pete loves the outdoors and living on the coast of Norfolk – in what he calls ‘a great little seaside town’, namely Hunstanton. He is most at home with camera in hand out in the wilds capturing the dynamism and beauty of his home county.
